AIS Congressional Report

Members of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, have been busy introducing legislation on various aspects of immigration law. As of 1/24/2021, members of Congress have introduced over 15 bills relating to immigration. Aponte Immigration Solutions, PLLC always keep an eye on congressional activity in order to prepare for the potential impact on both our clients and practice. Now, we want to take this one step further by actively informing our clients and the public-at-large, on the various proposals being made in Washington D.C. Our intention and hope is to dispel any misinformation present in the communities we serve by keeping them properly informed.

The following are four bills that have, thus far, been introduced:

• H.R. 71 - To Amend the Immigration and Nationality Act with respect to Aliens Associated with criminal gangs, and for other purposes.

• H.R. 89 - To Amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to facilitate the removal of aliens identified int he terrorist screening database, and for other purposes.

  • Introduced by Jeff Duncan (R-South Carolina)

• H.R. 90 - To Amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to penalize Aliens who overstay their visas, and for other purposes.

  • Introduced by Jeff Duncan (R-South Carolina)

• H.R. 94 - To prohibit the receipt of Federal financial assistance by sanctuary cities, and for other purposes.

  • Introduced by Jeff Duncan (R-South Carolina)
